Seabird fallout season is underway in Hawaiʻi! 🐦 Y Seabird fallout season is underway in Hawaiʻi! 🐦 Young native seabirds can get disoriented by lights and end up grounded — but you can help them make it safely back to sea by following these steps from @hawaiiwildlifecenter & @featherandfuranimalhospital!

If you find a downed seabird, gently place it in a ventilated box and take it to an approved drop-off site or call the Hawaiʻi Wildlife Center, one of two permitted rehabilitation organizations in the state ( the other is @saveourshearwaters ). On Oʻahu, HWC’s partners at @featherandfuranimalhospital are open 24 hours for seabird drop-off. Please handle birds carefully and sanitize any items used afterward.

Each chick is precious — most native seabirds lay just one egg a year! Seabirds also help nourish our coral reefs and maintain healthy ocean ecosystems. Mahalo for doing your part to protect Hawaiʻi’s wildlife and environment! 💚
